Welcome by Dallas Stahle at 7:02. Tom Williams presented agenda items and led discussion. We started with introductions. Amber Hyatt will be the MC teacher rep. Dj Hillier will be the MC counselor rep.
Last month’s minutes were sent for review prior to the meeting. Michelle Scott motioned to approve the minutes, Dallas Stahle seconded the motion, vote was unanimous to approve the minutes.
Trustlands and TSSA plans focus on investing in people to support students. Money is used at this school for a mental health counselor, a part time counselor, and a few teachers to try to keep smaller classes in core subjects.
Policy assemblies have recently been held at the school to ensure students know expectations.
The Cell phone policy was reviewed and discussed. The state has banned phones in classrooms. With our open campus where students leave during lunch as well as students leaving campus to attend Bridgerland and for work, our school has the policy of no cell phone during class. Phones are permitted during passing times and lunch. This policy includes cell phones, airpods, and watches.
The Attendance Policy was reviewed. We have a new check-in system. The physical location for check in/out is in the vestibule between the front doors. This is also where parents and other adults would check into our school. Absents should be verified within 24 hours. The school is also using absence codes again to try to identify why students are gone. It was suggested that information be sent to parents to inform them of the policy changes.
Mustang Success attendance will be handled in a different way this year. If students are truant during remediation time, there are now consequences to those choices. Tom reviewed the mustang success schedule and expectations.
New Hires- New vice principal: Kayden Calder; Band director: Thomas Biggs; FACS Teacher: Olivia Kidd; Sped Teachers: Amanda Wilcox, Melissa Beck, Kurt Piper; English Teachers: Isabelle Scott, Abbey Swensen, Paige Grantham
Parent Square: A concern was brought up about there being a 50 person max on parent square communications. This was specifically addressed because of band. The school will look into the settings to see if this can be adjusted.
October 5th Zoom meeting for Trustlands: October 5 @ 5:30. There is a required training for those serving on the SCC. The link is as follows: https://meet.google.com/cyk-doxy-jxb?hs=224

New Meeting Time: We will be holding SCC on a different day starting next month. It was decided that the SCC will meet the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 a.m. Our next meeting will be held Wednesday, October 14, at 7 am.
